Step 1 Warm-up

Step 2 Presentation

1. Listen , point and find ‘where’s …’

T: Class, please open your Student’s Books at Module!, Unit !, Activity ! and look at the pictures. What can you see?

Ss: Open their books and look at the pictures. Talk about the pictures in groups

Picture Description

Picture !: There are twelve cats on a bed. Daming is talking to Amy who hasn’t seen the cats.

Picture 2: Daming is pointing to the cats. Amy looks very excited.

Picture 3: Amy and Daming are counting the cats.

Picture 4: The orange cat has jumped off the bed and is hiding under the bed. Daming looks confused.

Picture 5: Amy is on her knees looking at the cat under the bed.

Picture 6: Daming is pointing to the bed. There are now no cats on it. The other cats are hiding in various parts of the room.

学生分组讨论图片,并可以用汉语加以描述,对于低年级学生而言,体现与语文学科的整合,对于培养学生的理解、表达能力都有帮助,较好的学生还可以穿插英语,体现分层教学。】

T: Please close your book, class. Now I’m going to play the tape.

Listen to the tape and point to each sentence.

2 T: Look at your book, what’re these?      

S: Cats.

T: Where are they? On the bed or under the bed?

T: How many cats are on the bed? Can you count? Let’s count together, OK ?   Oh! There are 12 cats on the bed.

2 Learn the words sentences and the text.

Teacher can tick the new words, and writes on the Bb, then let the Ss guess the meaning.  

Teach them, drill them.

Step 2 Practice

1 First, read the following words three times, then teacher makes a example with gestures:

S1:Where’s the pencil?      T: Is it under the book?

S1: Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.

Ss practise in pairs, then act it.

2  TPR活动:

Teacher say , Ss do!

T: Put your book on your desk. Put your pencil in your pencil-box. Put your ruler under the book.

Step 2 Presentation

1 Listen and clap.

T: How many times did you hear ‘cats’ or ‘cat’ ?

S: Five.

T: That’s right. Now please open your books. Listen to the tape again.

2 Then the teacher holds up a box so that all the students can see it. The teacher should put a book in the box.

T: Class, look at this, please. What is it?

S: It’s a box.

T: Very good.

T:  Where’s the book?

S1: It’s in the box.

T:  Look at Picture 1 Where are the cats?

Teach : I don’t know.

T:  Yes. Now look at the book. Where is it?

Ss: It’s in the box.

(The teacher now follows the same procedure for ‘under ’and ‘on’.

3 Comprehension Questions

1.    Where are the cats in Picture 1?

2.    How many cats are there?

3.    Where is the orange cat in Picture?

4.    Is there a cat on the bed in picture6?

Answers

1.    They are on the bed.

2.    There are twelve.

3.    It’s under the bed.

4.    No, there isn’t.

(The teacher now ask the class how many times they can see the word ‘where ’ or ‘where’s ’ in the story. )

Using the Activity Book

Step 1 Warmer:

Greeting :T: Good morning, class.

S: Good morning, Ms Fang.

1 Play the number game:

The teacher has each child write a number on a large piece of paper. The students can choose any number from one to twelve. The teacher explains that he/she is going to choose two students and get them to stand up. Student A has to say Student B’s number and B has to say A’s number.

2 Review the colors.

T: Point and ask: What color?

Ss: It’s…

Play this game in pairs.
