Book 10 Module4 Unit2 My favourite season is spring.
This lesson includes two parts: 1. Listen and repeat. It’s a passage about four Ss’ favourite seasons. 2. Talk about the pictures. It provides four pictures for the students . They can practice the sentence patterns, “What can you do in spring/ summer/ autumn/ winter? I can…” in this activity.
Part Two  Teaching aims and the key and difficult points:
1. Amis on the knowledge
1) The students are able to listen , speak and read these words and phrases: season, sandals, leaves, fall from, play with
2) The students are able to listen , speak, read and write these sentences: (This is the key point)
My favourite season is…         I can…
3) The students are able to understand the passage and read the passage.
 
2. Aims on the abilities.
 The students are able to talk about their favourite seasons in English. (This is the difficult point.)
3. Aims on the emotions and attitudes
 The students are able to love their lives and love the nature.
Part Three  Teaching Procedure and purposes of my designing.
Step1. Warm-up
First of all, play an interesting game. I will show some pictures of the seasons, cover the most part of the picture and have the Ss guess what season it is? Show today’s task, you’ll write down your favourite season after learning today’s new knowledge.
Purpose of my designing: Arouse the students’ interests through playing this game. Review the knowledge they have learned and prepare for today’s new knowledge.  Show today’s task.
Step2. Presentation
This course is very important. I’ll mainly talk about this step.
1.     Have the Ss understand the passage as a whole one. I’ll use the task-based teaching approach in this step. I’ll have the Ss read the dialog themselves , find out the new words and find out what are the children’s favourite seasons?
Purpose of my designing: This step is employed to make the Ss get the general idea of the dialogue as a whole one. Solve the new words of this passage.
2. Have the Ss understand the passage one part by one part. I’ll use the communicative teaching approach and task-based teaching approach .
1)Have the Ss understand the first part of the passage. I’ll show this picture on the screen. Have the Ss describe the picture. Then have the Ss read the first part themselves and answer these three questions.
a. Spring is_______.
 A. cool      B. warm
b. Does Amy like baby ducks?
Yes, she does.
No, she doesn’t.
c. What’s on the trees?
There are fruits.
There are flowers. 
2) Have the Ss understand the second part of the passage. Have the Ss read the second part themselves. And answer these two questions.
a. Does Daming like swimming?
 b. What can he wear in summer?
3) Have the Ss understand the third part of the passage. Have the Ss read the third part themselves. And finish these two sentences.
a. It’s _______in autumn.
b. Lingling can play with_________ in autumn.
4) Have the Ss understand the last part. Have the Ss read the last part themselves and raise some questions about this part. And have the other Ss answer the questions. Maybe the Ss will ask, “What’s Sam’s favourtie season. What’s the weather like in winter? What can he do in winter?”
Purpose of my designing: Help the Ss understand the dialog one part by one part. Cultivate the Ss’s abilities of reading comprehension.
3. Have the Ss understand the whole dialog again. I will show these four sentences and have the Ss judge.
1)Amy likes flowers and baby ducks.  (  )
2)Daming can swim.               (  )               
3)Lingling’s favourite season is spring. (  )
4)Sam  likes swimming.            (  )
Purpose of my designing: This step is employed to help the Ss understand the whole dialog again.
Step3. Practice
1.     Have the Ss listen and repeat .
2.     Have the Ss read the passage themselves.
3.     Have the Ss read the passage together.
Purpose of my designing: Help the Ss read the passage fluently.
4.     Have the Ss finish activity 2 “ Talk about the pictures” on SB.
Purpose of my designing: Check the Ss whether have grasped the key points of this lesson. Check the Ss whether have understood the dialog.
Step4. Consolidation.
Have the Ss write down the seasons they like best. I’ll use the task-based teaching approach
1) First of all, play a memory game. Have the Ss try to remember the sentences as quickly as they can.
2) Read Fanfan’s composition. And guess what her favourite season is.
Purpose of my designing: Arouse the students’ interests through playing this game. Prepare for today’s writing.
3) Pair work: have the Ss ask and answer these questions in pairs.
Purpose of my designing: The difficulties of writing a composition can be decomposed by this step.
4) Then have the Ss write the composition.
Purpose of my designing: Help the Ss use the key knowledge we have learned today. Cultivate the Ss’ ability of writing a composition.
Step5.Homework:
1.     Listen , point and repeat activity 1 five times.
Purpose of my designing: The Ss can understand and read the dialog well through practicing. 
2.     Make a poster about your favourite season.
Purpose of my designing: The Ss can consolidate the key structure through this activity.
