一、        Warm up

1.    Greetings.

Let the Ss say Hello/Hi. How are you? I’m fine/OK/not so good. Say sth about the weather the date and so on.

2.    Listen and say. Then say the poem on book page 25.

[Let the students get ready for the class.]

二、        Presentations and drills.

1.    Listen and do.

T: Boys and girls, please stand up and follow the TV, let’s listen and do.

Tall, tall, tall , make yourself tall.

Short, short, short, make yourself short.

Big big big, make your eyes big.

Small, small, small, make your eyes small.

Long long long, make your arms long.

Short short short, make your arms short.

2.    Look at the picture.

T: This is me. I was two. My hair wasn’t long then. It was very short. Now it is long. Look at lingling, what about her hair then?

S: It was very short.

(Then watch TV and learn was.)

3.    Look at this picture. Who are they? How about the age?

S: They weren’t old then. They were very young.

(Then watch TV and learn were.)

4.Open the book on page 26.

Listen, point and find ‘was ,were’. 

Play the tape and get the students to follow in their books.  Tell them to listen and point at the correct pictures as they listen.

Tell the students that you are going to say information from the story and they have to listen and say if the information is about  ‘now’ or ‘then ‘. Tell them to say ‘now’ or ‘then ‘.

Examples

T: Linging was cute.

Ss: Then.

T: Lingling’s hair was short.

Ss: Then

T: Lingling’s grandparents are old.

SS: Now

T: lingling’s hair is long.

SS: Now

T: lingling was naughty.

SS: Then

[Aims to let the students understand the meaning of the words.]

三、        Practise

1.    Listen and repeat the dialogue.

2.    Listen and point and find was / were.

3.    Read the dialogue together.

[Aims to help the Ss understand the meaning of this dialogue well.]

四、Consolidation and extension.

Listen and circle True or False.

  If you want you could do this as an oral exercise.

  Tell the students that you are going to read out sentences about the story (use the ones in the book). If the sentence in true they stay seated and say ‘true, but if the sentence in false they stand up and say ‘False’.

Examples

T: Lingling wasn’t naughty then.

Ss: (stand up) False.

T: Lingling was two then.

Ss: (sit down) True.

[Consolidate the knowledge they have learned today.]

五、Sum up.

T: Sum up the important points to the students.

一、        Warm up

1.Let’s chant from the last module several times. Encourage them to do the actions.

2.Listen and do.

T: Boys and girls, please stand up and follow the TV, let’s listen and do.

Tall, tall, tall, make yourself tall.

Short, short, short, make yourself short.

Big, big, big, make your eyes big.

Small, small, small, make your eyes small.

Long, long, long, make your arms long.

Short, short, short, make your arms short.

[Let the students get ready for the class.]

二、Presentation

Before starting, make sure the students are clear aboutthe adjectives and their meanings.

Tell the students to focus on the word boxes. Tell them you are going to say a word and they have to find the opposite in the word boxes.

Examples

T: Short.

Ss: Tall.

T: Old.

Ss: Young.

T: Tall.

Ss: Short.

T: Fat.

Ss: Thin.

Now get the students to continue like this in pairs.

[Aims to let the students understand the meaning of the words.]

4.    Watch TV

T: Look at the pictures and describeit.

Eg: He was fat then. Now he’s thin.

    They were young then. Now they’re old.

It was short then. Now it is long.

They were short then. Now they are tall.

 

三、Practise

1.Listen and repeat the dialogue.

2.Listen and point and find was / were.

3.Read the dialogue together.

四、Consolidation and extension.

Tell the students that you are going to say some sentences about your friend and how he in now. Explain that in the past he was the opposite. The students have to listen to your sentences and then say the opposite sentence about how he was when he was younger.

On the board write the following.

He was_____________________.

Examples

T: He in tall.

Ss: He was short.

T: He is old.

Ss: He was young.

T: He is loud.

Ss: He was quiet.

T: He is thin.

Ss: He was fat.

 

五、Sum up.

T: Sum up the important points to the students.

 

一、        Warm up

1.    Listen and sing a song.<I was fat>

First listen and then try to say it.

2.    Free talk

Can you describe yourself then and now.

Eg:I was fat then, but now I’m thin.

   My hair was short then, but now it’s long.

First teacher can describe herself, then ask the students to say it.

[Get ready for the class and aims to help the Ss happy.]

二、        Presentation and drills

1.    v listen an answer.

The Ss listen to the tape,and answer the questions according to the passage.

A: In the holiday, where were Mum and Amy?

B: In the holiday, where was Dad?

C: In the holiday, where was Sam?

The answer:

A: They were in London.

B: He was in Hong Kong.

C: He was in Beijing.

[Aims to let the students understand the test well.]

2.    Listen and repeat

A: Open the book on page 28.Listen and repeat. The Ss listen and repeat each sentences by the tape.

B: Read it together.

C: Find some Ss to read the passage.

D: Try to reside the passage together.

[Aims to help the Ss have ready it correctly.]

3.    Find and say.

Look at the pictures, and try to say the sentence:Ms Smart and Amy were in London.

Dad was in Hong Kong.

Sam was in Beijing.

[Aims to help the Ss improve their oral English.]

三、        Practise

1.    Pair work:

A: In the holidays, where were you?

B: In the holidays, where was your Dad and Mum?

2.    Discribe the picture.

    The teacher show a picture to the students, the students look at the pictures for a time, then try to say something about the pictures.

 

四、        Consolidation and extension.

Do a survey:

Activity Book, ask and answer, then complete the chart.[Consolidate the key words and key structures.]

五、        Sum up

T: What have you learned today?

S: (Say something about the passage.)

[Sum up the knowledge they have learned today.]
